SWR commissions DAB+ transmitter site
17.04.2018 - GermanyGerman broadcaster SWR has commissioned a new DAB+ transmitter in the Villingen Schwenningen area in southern Germany that will improve reception in the region. Further expansion is being planned for Bad Urach, Baiersbronn, Brandenkopf, Schramberg, Sigmaringen, Villingen-Schwenningen, Waldburg and Weingarten. Other transmitter locations are being planned.

Russian government to consider DAB+ broadcasting
17.04.2018 - Russian FederationThe Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Nikiforov, held a meeting on 17 April in Moscow of the State Commission for Radio Frequencies (GKRC) during which the possibility of deploying DAB+ was discussed, where appropriate and dependent on availability of spectrum. Relevant regulation and licensing measures would also be required.

Nearly 600,000 DAB+ devices sold in 2017 in Switzerland
17.04.2018 - SwitzerlandAccording to OFCOM's six-monthly surveys conducted by the GfK research institute, electronics stores sold 304,000 DAB+ radios in 2017. 290,000 vehicles were either already equipped of a DAB+ device or have been after their circulation. The number of vehicles equipped with DAB+ car radios in a standard way has risen sharply, from 66% at the end of 2016 to 85% a year later.
