The Italian Government has passed legislation (Article 1044) aimed at encouraging technological innovation in the digital radio sector starting from 2019. The law will be introduced in two stages: from 1 June 2019, all radio devices sold by manufacturers to distributors would be integrated with at least one interface enabling digital radio services. Indoors this has increased from 40 to almost 75%. The total DAB+ network of national commercial channels now consists of 39 channels.
