Major changes are heading to Bauer’s Big City Network in June, including a new national DAB station called Hits Radio broadcasting from Manchester from 4 June. Hits Radio is to replace The Hits on local DAB multiplexes around the UK, and be available along side Bauer’s FM stations.

Due to launch on Monday 4 June at 6am, Hits Radio will be the fourth national radio station operated by Bauer, and is the first major national commercial DAB station to be broadcast from Manchester.

There’s a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system fitted as standard in the centre of the dash. This provides access to sat nav, DAB radio, Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

All cars come standard with goodies such as sat-nav, cruise control, DAB radio, keyless ignition, a vast suite of crash-avoidance tech and ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice-activation.

The renewed X-First comes with an X-connect 7-inch multimedia screen with DAB+ digital radio.

Focus Style is equipped as standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, DAB digital radio with Bluetooth and Emergency Assist, electronic parking brake, autonomous emergency braking, tyre pressure monitoring, Hill Start Assist and Lane-Keeping Aid.

German broadcaster SWR has commissioned a new DAB+ transmitter in the Villingen Schwenningen area in southern Germany that will improve reception in the region. Further expansion is being planned for Bad Urach, Baiersbronn, Brandenkopf, Schramberg, Sigmaringen, Villingen-Schwenningen, Waldburg and Weingarten. Other transmitter locations are being planned.

The new system is equipped with an 8 "screen, DAB+ digital radio, 1 CD and compatibility with smartphones, both with iOS and Android operating system.

Italian public broadcast Rai announced that it intends to accelerate its investments in digital radio broadcasting at a recent digital radio conference held at the broadcaster’s headquarters in Rome on April 13.

The Minister of Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Nikiforov, held a meeting on 17 April in Moscow of the State Commission for Radio Frequencies (GKRC) during which the possibility of deploying DAB+ was discussed, where appropriate and dependent on availability of spectrum. Relevant regulation and licensing measures would also be required.
