Audi development engineer radio Christian Winter describes the new hybrid radio features of the new A8: Thanks to several antennas, the A8 has the best radio reception. Through the automatic switch from FM or DAB+ to online radio, you get continuous radio reception – whether you’re driving through rural areas, borders of federal provinces or countries. We use three FM and two DAB+ receivers that are connected to several antennas. This enables the best radio broadcast reception possible for the customer and makes features such as a constantly updated unified station list, slideshow or program guide accessible.

DAB+ takes centre stage at 2018 Digital Broadcasting Symposium

WorldDAB has announced the line-up for its popular DAB+ Digital Radio Workshop, taking place in Kuala Lumpur on Monday 5 March at ABU's 2018 Digital Broadcasting Symposium. With more and more broadcasters implementing DAB+ in Asia Pacific, the workshop, titled "DAB+ in a multiplatform world," will discuss how DAB+ can secure a strong future for radio. Speakers in this year's line-up include Dave Cameron, General Manager at Southern Cross Austereo in Melbourne, Asia Pacific Chair of WorldDAB Joan Warner, WorldDAB Technical Committee Chair Lindsay Cornell, Commercial Radio Australia's Les Sabel, and senior advisor from Norwegian broadcaster NRK Jørn Jensen.

New data shows almost 40% of new cars in Germany have DAB+

The number of new cars that Germany will be delivered with a DAB+ radio has almost doubled in a year. In 2017, 39.1% of the new cars left the factory with a working DAB+ radio on board. In 2016 this was 21% and in 2015 only 13%. This is shown by data from the Deutsche Automobil Treuhand (DAT), which records the data for all vehicles in Germany.

Greece Launches First DAB+ Transmission

Greece entered the digital radio age on 5 January with the country’s first-ever DAB+ radio transmissions. According to the Greek language news site radiotvlink.gr, seven DAB+ channels are being broadcast by ERT on VHF Channel 12C (227.36 MHz), using a single DAB+ multiplex and a transmission power of 300 watts.

WorldDAB teams up with EBU and EDRA to call for digital reform in Europe

detector.fm available on DAB+ for the first time

As from January 31, 2018, Germany-wide online radio detector.fm began broadcasting on DAB+ for the first time. The station participates in a pilot project for the supply of digital programmes via DAB+ in Leipzig and Freiberg.
