Is DAB radio finally taking off?
21.07.2014 - United KingdomThe tide is turning in favour of Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB).
In fact, the motor industry is helping to drive Britain’s uptake in DAB. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), in April-June 2013 only 38% of new cars had DAB as standard equipment. In 2011, that figure was just 12 per cent. The most recent figures it has show 55% of the new cars sold had DAB as standard.

Esso becomes the first Norwegian retail chain to sell DAB+ adaptors for cars
17.07.2014 - Digitalradio Norge AS - NorwayEsso is now making sure motorists can get DAB radio in the car and enjoy more channels on long road trips for the holidays, says Jarle Ruud, Marketing Manager at Digital radio Norway.
It is resolved to extinguish the national FM network, no earlier than 2017 and no later than 2019. This means that both FM radios and older DAB radios will be set. Cars with older DAB radios (without DAB +) must either replace the radio or buy the adapter.

Bauer and UTV to bid together for second UK-wide digital radio network
15.07.2014 - Arqiva WorldDAB Member - United KingdomBauer and UTV this morning confirmed that they are teaming up with broadcast services group Arqiva to bid for the previously reported second digital radio multiplex. Media regulator OfCom announced earlier this month that it was now accepting bids to operate a second digital radio network, which will operate alongside the existing national Digital One multiplex (also owned by Arqiva) and local DAB platforms.
