An important impulse for the digitalisation of radio transmission
03.05.2017 - GermanyThe Federal Cabinet today adopted the draft of a Fourth Act amending the Telecommunications Act, as presented by the Federal Minister of Economics and Energy. This amendment puts forward that in the future high-quality radio receivers may only be traded if they are suitable for the reception of standardised digital signals.

Central Germany leading the way for DAB+ coverage
03.05.2017 - GermanyIn the broadcasting area for the MDR, 99 per cent of the area, 88 per cent of the population and 100 per cent of the federal motorways are now supplied with DAB+ digital radio from the Central German Broadcasting Corporation. The three central states within this area are among Germany's best-equipped digital radio stations, according to information released from the broadcaster to the MDR Broadcasting Council, which met in Leipzig on 2nd May 2017.

New digital radio transmitters officially launched at 'switch on' event
03.05.2017 - United KingdomFour new transmitters have launched in the past 18 months and a final transmitter will launch in Market Drayton in the coming weeks. The five transmitters bring the county’s popular local stations to 650,000 more listeners on DAB digital radio in Wolverhampton & Shropshire and have expanded local DAB coverage to 92% of households from 53%.

DAB receivers in 12 percent of French households
03.05.2017 - FranceFrance's media regulator, the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel, has released its summary of radio equipment in use for the entire year of 2016 in France. The results showed that 12 percent of French households had a DAB receiver in 2016.
