For many internet stations, digital radio was unreachable because of the high costs, but many experiments with DAB+ at a local level now show that DAB is also accessible to smaller Internet stations.

The AVQ1022 calculates an SFN echo profile and plots it, using a rich set of instrumental tools including relative and absolute measurements of profile peaks using cross-bar or markers on an automatic or fixed scale. Understanding the echo profile of signals in an SFN network allows broadcast engineers to adjust and align local delays in individual transmitters to optimise overall network performance and maximize reception.

CEO Øyvind Hansen of Tromsø Bilstereo AS has spent a lot of time working on installing DAB in customer cars. He thinks DAB is better than its reputation, but it's up to the listeners' wallet on how well it will work. "To get DAB in the car, you do not necessarily need to spend a lot of money. We want to deliver solutions that are most integrated into the car," he says.

Onkyo will be showcasing new DAB+ receivers at IFA 2017 the CS-N775D multi-room receiver system, the CS-N575D multi-room hi-fi CD system, and the CS-375D CD receiver system. All three Onkyo systems will be available in September, in either a black or silver finish.

All Model Year 2018 KODIAQ variants, which includes the 132TSI and new 140TDI models, also receive a number of tech upgrades, including a 9.2-inch digital display with innovative gesture control and DAB+.

The Labour leader was asked whether he supported new legislation that would allow local stations to apply for digital radio licences. Mr Corbyn said: “Yes I would, because digital licensing is crucial. There has to be this wide variety of radio stations on offer. And at their best, local radio stations do help to provide that sense of local identity and local community – and that we have to do.”

The number of internet stations that broadcast on DAB+ at a local level in the Netherlands is growing steadily thanks to the low cost, allowing them to reach larger audiences.
