The Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network has initiated discussion on introducing DAB+ digital radio in Russia, with the frequency range of 174-230 MHz to be used. No dates have been confirmed on when the new format will be implemented.

The new colours are coming to Tivoli’s PAL line of portable speakers, which are available in two versions: standard Bluetooth speakers, and DAB radios, which also feature Bluetooth but also receive digital radio in certain countries.

A new discussion document published by the South African communication authority Icasa, gives notice of their intention to conduct an inquiry on implementing a digital radio broadcasting service in South Africa. Interested parties are invited to make written representations within 45 working days.

Tivoli Audio has announced a special collection of 2018 limited-edition colors for its new PAL series, in anticipation of the re-engineered award-winning DAB portable radio, PAL+BT. The collection will make their first public appearance at the upcoming Salone del Mobile design show in Milan.

Russia's State Commission on Radio Frequencies (GKRC) is returning to the issue of the construction of digital radio standard DAB+ networks in Russia, which was postponed for several years. Under the proposal, GKRC will allocate frequencies in the range of 174-230 MHz for the construction of DAB+ networks.

RAI intends to move forward in the context of digitisation of platforms and in doing so would like to accelerate its projects on DAB+, following an international seminar focused on radio streaming. A statement from RAI stated: "in the following two years we will continue to invest to make the coverage more and more digital and content is already on the air with five new channels, and new channels will be added very soon.

Director of RAI Radio Roberto Sergio has confirmed the broadcaster is ahead of schedule for its "T-Motorway" as part of its investment to increase DAB+ services in Italy. This was confirmed at a seminar in Rome last Friday.

Communications regulator Icasa has taken the first step to possibly introducing DAB+ radio in South Africa. The authority has published a discussion document on digital sound broadcasting services to solicit feedback from the industry. Parties interested in commenting on the discussion document must make representations with 45 days.

Councillor Dimakatso Qocha said digital radio could help improve spectrum efficiency and management, and offer more choice for consumers.
