The 27th Tonmeistertagung IRT took place in the Congress Centre North of Cologne. With the theme "Digital Radio - diverse, networked, available" this event is primarily intended to experts in the areas of programming, production and technology of radio stations and radio stations, as well as to network operators, receiver manufacturers and the automotive industry.

This DAB+ technology workshop and transmission demonstration will comprise of a two day technology workshop followed by a two day transmission trial and field measurement exercise in and around the city of Jakarta, Indonesia from 24- 27 September. The event is jointly organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, Ministry for Communications and Technology, Radio Republic Indonesia and WorldDMB.

The French government has decided not to ask the CSA for priority allocation of frequencies for potential DAB broadcasts of Radio France and Radio France International in the areas of Paris, Marseille and Nice.

Since its launch in August 2011, the number of stations in the nationwide network has thus increased from an initial 27 to 46. KISS on DAB can be accessed along with all other analogue local radio stations and main digital European Radio stations on DAB radio sets accessible on the local market as well as through the internet or the digital television platform.

Martin Holmgren, Chairman of the Committee: -We suggest that the public broadcaster, Swedish Radio, take a central role and act as an engine for digitalization. Also, Swedish Radio should be given financial means for a network and content expansion of digital radio. This also means good incentives for the commercial broadcasters to roll-out digital radio in collaboration with the public service broadcaster.

After consultation with various radio industry stakeholders, the French Government intends to mandate the adoption of DAB+.

Munich-based IT-corporation syngenio AG has developed an innovative software app for Samsung’s Android mini tablet Galaxy S 5.0 WiFi, which comes with a built-in receiver for Digital Radio (DAB+) and Mobile TV (DMB). The app brings increased value to a mobile device by combining broadcasted radio and mobile TV with internet services.
