Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Mr. Henk Kamp has announced his new policy on radio frequencies which will impact on the distribution of DAB+ . "An auction of licenses with fewer conditions... gives companies more opportunities to innovate and do business."

The BBC has confirmed that its national DAB network now reaches more than 96% of homes, just short of the 97% target to be reached by the end of the year.

Frontier Silicon has been chosen by Connects2 as the technology provider for its new automotive radio adapter, AutoDAB Smart.

According to leading automakers, more than 60% of all new Swiss vehicles come with DAB+ as standard.

“In countries such as Norway and Denmark, where the digital terrestrial network is used with full force in a competitive market, we are seeing the radio audience increase both in terms of user numbers and listening time. This is because the radio audience has new and exciting stations to listen to. We are not seeing any corresponding increase in listening in Sweden.”

The BBC has launched a further five national DAB transmitters, bringing the total number of transmitters to 319 and serving more than 96 per cent of homes in total.

Other features of the new Bush Heritage II Connect include DAB+ crystal-clear digital radio with live text from the broadcasting station on screen; audio streaming from a PC or Mac over a home Wi-Fi network; plus convenient connection and streaming with a Bluetooth/NFC compatible device.

The new Tangent DAB 2go BT portable DAB+/FM/BT radio gives you extra entertainment options by adding portability to the already successful Tangent table-top radio range.

“It’s regrettable for the Swedish radio audience that the expansion of digital radio has been postponed. The FM band is full and there will be a need for a terrestrial broadcasting network for a long time forward. Internet-based IP radio will be important, but will never replace a terrestrial network” says Cilla Benkö, the director-general of Sweden’s public radio broadcaster Sveriges Radio.
