WorldDAB at IBC 2018

WorldDAB will take a detailed look at “Radio’s Digital Strategy” in a session held during IBC2018. Slated for Monday Sept. 17 at 9 a.m., the conference will discuss ways in which radio is innovating itself and delivering new content to the listener amidst an evolving industry landscape that includes the likes of Google, Amazon, Sonos and Apple Music. WorldDAB will also be available at Hall 10, Stand F27 for the duration of IBC 2018, running from 13 to 18 September.

Bulgarian Communications Regulation Commission announces DAB+ consultation

The Bulgarian Communications Regulation Commission has announced it will work with the country’s Council for Electronic Media (CEM) to form an official policy document concerning the adoption of DAB+ digital radio. This is to address ongoing requests by Bulgarian broadcasters for the authorisation of DAB+ to meet additional spectrum demands.

Digital listening on the up in Northern Ireland

A 5% year-on-year increase was recorded in the share of radio listening to digital radio in Northern Ireland, reaching 35% of all listening hours by the start of 2018.

DAB+ devices on the increase in Italy

The total number of receivers in use in Italy rose to 3.7 million, an increase compared to the previous survey of 13%, an increase in the knowledge of this technology known to over 10 million Italian adults (+14). The research was commissioned by DAB Italy to GfK Italy.

DAB in cars on the increase in the UK

According to data from industry analysts CAP and The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, more cars than ever are being sold in the UK with DAB as standard equipment, growing to 92.4% of new cars sold in the last three months. 2.2 million new cars with DAB have been sold in the last 12 months.
