WorldDAB and ABU technical webinar series concludes with plans to launch a WorldDAB Asia-Pacific Technical Group

This week, WorldDAB and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) hosted a three-day DAB+ technical webinar series aimed at broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Over 100 attendees took part in the real-time virtual event that addressed all aspects of implementing DAB+, giving practical advice and guidance for broadcast stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region who are planning to digitise radio.
Speakers included several WorldDAB members as well as Roger Lanctot from Strategy Analytics, Les Sabel and Kathryn Sabel Brown from S-Comm Technologies and representatives of Thailand’s National Broadcast and Telecommunications Commission.
Plans for a new WorldDAB Asia-Pacific Technical Group were announced, which will be a forum open to broadcasters in the region with the aim of providing technical assistance to broadcasters in the region implement DAB+.
The Group will offer participants the opportunity to discuss, learn and collaborate on all technical aspects of DAB+ digital radio, with information tailored specifically to the region. The group will ensure all activities are aligned with the DAB standards and will refer sustained new ideas or thinking back to WorldDAB Committees.
