WorldDAB wants your input on the in-car UX guidelines

12.07.2018

Our guidelines on Automotive User Experience (UX) were the first of their kind and the result of a close collaboration between car manufacturers, broadcasters and technology providers within WorldDAB. We’ve been impressed with the positive response from the wider automotive industry since they were launched earlier this year.

The guidelines were based on consumer research carried out in five different countries where drivers were asked to test specific user experience functions of a car radio in different makes and models of car. The results of this research shape the WorldDAB User Experience Guidelines which aim to improve the experience of digital radio in the car for all drivers.

The Guidelines are structured around  seven use-cases, informed by the research, to ensure the guidelines accurately reflect the actual experience of consumers.

The document is available to download from the WorldDAB website.

Now, we’re asking for feedback on how the Guidelines have been used and how we can continue to improve them.

The short survey will take just a few minutes to complete and responses will help shape future work in this area.

We would encourage all interested stakeholders working in the automotive and broadcast industries to complete the six questions – the work of the Automotive UX Group and its Task Forces has been well received in meetings with Automotive OEMs, so your input on the next stage of this work will be valuable.

The next phase of the work being carried out by the WorldDAB UX Group is on symbols, icons and terminology of digital radio in the car. For more information on WorldDAB’s UX Group and other work in the automotive sector get in touch with the Project Office.
