Directives for second DAB layer in Switzerland

The Swiss Federal Council has issued its directives for the call for tender for the second DAB layer, which is to take place this summer. According to these directives, a new DAB ensemble will be launched in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, covering at least the three major cities Berne, Basle and Zurich. The second ensemble can only contain programmes that are not available on FM and are thus unique content on DAB. 75% of these new programmes should be commercial channels, the rest programmes by the Swiss public broadcaster SRG SSR idée suisse.
