Arne Borsum, product manager and DAB system expert at 2wcom Systems GmbH
Give us a brief introduction to your organisation and the role it plays in the radio sector
The radio sector is our core focus, where our solutions play an integral role in audio contribution to radio studios and distribution feeds across broadcast networks.
2wcom is a well-established manufacturer and supplier of professional solutions for broadcasting. We work with a range of technologies, including Audio over IP, FM, RDS, MPX, DAB, and HD Radio. We offer comprehensive solutions, covering everything from audio contribution and distribution, audio streaming, DAB, FM and MPX distribution, including satellite distribution for radio networks.
With a strong foundation in these technologies, we support the entire radio broadcasting ecosystem.
How do you see the digital radio sector evolving in the coming years?
Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) has gained traction in various regions. I believe this trend will continue as more countries and regions transition to digital broadcasting.
Radio stations are increasingly adopting online streaming and internet radio, which is becoming more popular. The idea of hybrid radio, where traditional broadcasts mix with online content, opens up new possibilities for personalised content.
Analogue radio broadcasting continues for legacy reasons in most countries, ensuring a smooth transition, while efforts will be directed towards enhancing the cost-efficiency of analogue network operations without compromising the provision of essential analogue services.
What DAB+ products or services are you showcasing at IBC2023?
At 2wcom, we provide a comprehensive range of solutions to deliver audio from studios to DAB head-ends. We take into account different setups and customer needs, providing tailored options in our product lineup.
The latest addition to our DAB offerings is the DAB+ Encoder, which adds DAB+ functionality to our multi-channel audio encoders and codecs. This DAB functionality also extends to MoIN, our software-based Audio over IP platform.
Moreover, we're proud to present our solutions for DAB distribution networks, widely embraced by clients globally. Whether it's IP or satellite distribution, EDI/ETI conversion, or redundancy switching, we have the capability to address a wide spectrum of scenarios.
What are you most looking forward to at IBC2023?
As we prepare for IBC, we're enthusiastic about meeting with our esteemed customers and establishing new connections.
The event serves as a crucial platform for industry networking. Being a product manager, I'm consistently eager to understand our customers' needs and requirements. This insight guides us in tailoring our solutions to their preferences, ensuring that we deliver the most optimal products possible.
Where can we find you in RAI Amsterdam, and is there a specific contact to ask for?
You can find us in Hall 8, booth D81. Together with our sales team, my colleague Tork Niendorf and I will be available as 2wcom’s DAB experts. You can easily book an appointment during IBC.
