Q&A with Maryann Faricy - VP, Global Automotive Products, Gracenote and Thorsten Böhmer - VP, Automotive Sales, International, Gracenote

Gracenote has recently joined WorldDAB as a member, please could you explain a bit about your main reasons for joining and what you hope to get out of your membership?

Gracenote is excited to join WorldDAB and the esteemed organisations that comprise its membership. As a member, we will deepen our collaboration with the automotive and radio industries to complement and enhance in-car radio experiences while continuing to provide quality metadata solutions to our customers.

Over 20 years ago, Gracenote ushered digital music into the car and since then, over 250 million vehicles have shipped globally with our metadata and technology. We believe this experience will enable us to add great value to WorldDAB.

What markets does your company support and what solutions do you provide?

Our Automotive metadata solutions offer consistent and quality coverage globally, powering search and discovery across audio, video and sports content, including:

Can you tell us about your most recent projects?

Today, we are the one-stop-shop global data provider allowing automakers to integrate radio, music, podcasts, video and sports content into a single automotive entertainment experience.

We are helping OEMs to create intuitive content discovery and rich displays for drivers and passengers. Our solutions are future-forward and flexible with new platforms such as Android Automotive OS (AAOS). Gracenote enables content integration across existing and future applications, leveraging a customisable, branded experience to improve engagement and differentiation.

What do your customers value most from your solutions?

Gracenote supports automakers and broadcasters with metadata solutions that enable them to deliver rich, consistent displays and intuitive content discovery. This helps our customers bring the broadcast radio experiences they offer to users in line with the ways they navigate other modern media.

Coverage - We deliver metadata for stations globally across all broadcast bands: AM, FM, DAB and HD.

Quality - Our editorially curated metadata is accurate, constantly updated, and localised for use in global markets. We have music editorial experts around the globe whose primary responsibilities are maintaining our metadata and imagery.

Consistent user experience - Our normalised metadata across audio, video, and sports enables a seamless entertainment experience, and powers search and discovery across content types including radio, music, podcasts, video and sports in the car.

What advice would you give someone considering deploying DAB?
