Give us a brief introduction to your organisation and the role it plays in the radio sector

Paneda focuses on developing systems and applications within the DAB family and the base is the Paneda DAB head-end system. Its very long experience within DAB opens the possibility to develop early the new features that DAB offers, as the standard is further developed. Important features such as redundancy, security etc. has always been in focus. Another important issue is to future-proof the system, easy-to-operate and support for our customers.

Paneda also offers a radio break-in system for road tunnels with over 250 tunnels equipped with the Paneda solution.

The same applies for DAB head-end system - over 110 systems in operation worldwide makes Paneda a world leader in the area.

Recently, Paneda has been awarded a long-term contract with the world's largest DAB network and multiplex operator, Arqiva in the U.K., who have signed an agreement with Paneda to supply 60 DAB multiplexers carrying almost 400 radio stations.

With its intensive development, Paneda not only contributes to a better system for our customers, but also for DAB as the platform is continuously developed. The Paneda focus is to offer the most robust system, most advanced redundancy features and at the same time offer the highest possible flexibility.

How do you see the digital radio sector evolving in the coming years?

DAB as a platform is very suitable for virtualisation, and in recent years we have seen a clear trend that many of our customers are now rapidly adopting DAB as a software, in their own existing data centre or as a standalone server platform.

DAB as a software virtualised platform provides great benefits for our customers and drastically reduces costs for our users. Being able to quickly get started with DAB without massive investment is important, and a virtualised platform offers this in a very simple way. In short, DAB Radio as a software platform is the key in many aspects, but mainly to make DAB as technology more available, to a wider group, faster and less complicated compared to a traditional hardware system.

Personally, I am convinced that DAB is a must for radio as a medium to be able to compete in the long term in an increasingly harsh media climate. Luckily, we see clear trends in countries running DAB, a growing number of listeners, that’s very positive for both DAB and radio as a medium.

What DAB+ products or services are you showcasing at IBC2022?

Paneda will showcase its complete system for DAB Break-In, the latest development for our DAB Head-End platform containing several new features. In addition, Paneda will also show its Warning system over DAB concept with connected unique receivers for different applications.

A Paneda system can be realised as dedicated hardware, virtualised or fully cloud, with a user-friendly web interface with real-time status.

What are you most looking forward to at IBC2022?

After a few years with very limited possibility to meet in person, I’m looking forward to meeting our customers and partners again finally, from all over the world. Just to have a chance to sit down and have a talk about anything is something I really have missed.

Where can we find you in RAI Amsterdam, and is there a specific contact to ask for?

You will find Paneda in Hall 8, stand B50, feel free to contact me to book an appointment.
