Q&A with Lars - Peder Lundgren, Sales Director, Paneda
What markets does your company support and what solutions do you provide?
Paneda develop and sell DAB related technology, including DAB head-end systems with multiplexers and audio encoders, road tunnel break-in system and other DAB related systems.
The Paneda DAB head-end system has several unique features, as a built-in smart content aware switch that offers a totally new level of redundancy.
The system has been developed with the most modern technology, based on 20 years of experience and has been aimed at eliminating most of the shortcomings that traditional systems have or have had.
The break-in system for road tunnels is the most advanced on the market and includes peripherals as microphone voice panels, individual break in systems and I/O systems for system integration. Paneda has over 80 DAB multiplexers in operation worldwide, and over 200 tunnel systems.
Can you tell us about your most recent projects?
Recently, Paneda has developed a new Warning system that uses DAB technology, the system has been tested live in Scandinavia with great success and furter tests for various kind of applications are planned in the coming months.
The system includes an addressable signalling over DAB and various kinds of dedicated DAB receivers for different applications such as sending a message to a screen, loudspeaker, starting sirens, open/close gates and much more.
The system offers an add-on-value to any existing DAB network, and is another incitement for deploying DAB.
What do your customers value most from your solutions?
The Paneda systems has been highly appreciated for all its unique features, but most appreciated is Paneda as a company. Paneda has a corporate culture that is attractive, firstly that we put customers first, but also that we are responsive and are quick to develop the changes that customers ask for. Last but not least, the support that our customers receive is completely unique and our support team is reachable via social media around the clock, basically, customers always get in touch with Paneda whenever they want.
What advice would you give someone considering deploying DAB?
With over 23 years in the DAB business, I have been involved in DAB almost from the beginning, and have seen both bad examples and good examples of DAB deployments.
I believe that the most important challenge is to get the content providers/radio stations deeply involved, and this includes both the technical part and the content side. The users must have a chance to learn how DAB is structured, using all the benefits that DAB as a technology offers.
Creating unique DAB only content has been proven to be a success, but is still rare in countries now starting with DAB, and I believe that’s a mistake from a user/listener perspective, since simulcasting with FM will never attract new listeners, which is most important, at least for commercial radio.
