Rai DAB+ Digital Radio Seminar
WorldDAB will host a seminar entitled ‘Securing the future of radio in Italy with DAB+’, to be held in Rome on 13 April 2018.
The development of digital radio in Italy is at a critical stage - national DAB+ services are already on air and cover 83% of the population and DAB+ coverage is expected to increase to 85% of the population by end 2018.
In December 2017 the Italian Government passed legislation (Article 1044) aimed at encouraging technological innovation in the digital radio sector starting from 2019. The law will be introduced in two stages: from 1 June 2019, all radio devices sold by manufacturers to distributors would be integrated with at least one interface enabling digital radio services. The second stage from 1 January 2020 will require all devices sold to consumers and the automotive industry to be capable of receiving digital radio.
DAB+ services are expanding rapidly across Europe and also in other regions, with increased interest seen recently in Europe (particularly Central and Eastern European countries), Arab States, South Africa and Asia Pacific.
The focus of this seminar is on three key themes:
- The development of digital radio in Europe and around the world
- Digital Switchover in Norway
- The opportunities for broadcasters that DAB+ offers
We would be delighted if you could accept our invitation to attend our event in Rome. It is being held at Sala B, Radio Rai, Via Asiago 10, 00195 Rome. Please find a draft agenda below.
