A call for application has been opened in Macedonia for professional DAB+ equipment, including receivers. The deadline for the submission of the tender is 21 January 2019.

2018 was an important year for digital radio in France. This article gives an overview of the major developments that took place in France in recent months, including the launches of DAB+ in Strasbourg and Lyon, and the CSA’s triggering of the French receiver law that will lay the foundation for a digital future for radio in France.

The European Radio Show will be broadcast live from Paris on a number of platforms including DAB+, Youtube and social media. The program will air from 10.00-18.00 on Thursday 24th, 10.00-17.00 on Friday 25th and 10.00-15.00 on Saturday 26th January.

German adventure magazine Griaß di 'Allgäu is now available as a DAB+ radio station. Previously only in magazine format, Griaß di 'Allgäu has launched a DAB+ radio version available on channel 8B since the start of January.

99.6% of the population of the Northern Italian region of South Tyrol - also known as Alto Adige - is now covered with DAB+ signal following the launch of new transmitters at the end of 2018, with up to 22 radio stations available.

New regional DAB+ networks have expanded the digital radio offering in Germany, with the “DAB+ network Allgäu” on channel 8D being the latest extension of the German digital radio offer to go into operation in November 2018. The operator of the network is Bayern Digital Radio GmbH.

Traditionally cautious about this type of significant change, French radio groups are this time collectively embracing the move towards DAB+ digital radio, with larger broadcasters looking to cover more territory, and smaller broadcasters hoping to increase their number of listeners and advertising revenue figures.

Following the introduction of the EU's new directive on the digitisation of radio in cars, car manufacturers across the EU will have to start including the DAB+ standard as part of all in-car radio systems moving forward. Amongst other things, drivers will benefit from a more seamless transmission of traffic information.
