Q&A with Saskia Scheller, Product Portfolio Management Audio, Hama GmbH & Co KG

What markets does your company support and what solutions do you provide?

Hama GmbH & Co KG occupies many different product categories and in addition to DAB+ digital radios, is a supplier of computers, notebooks, mobile phones and cameras. We offer the perfect radio product for every situation with our wide range of receivers. Hama's radios have clever features for example RX-TX technology which enables the reception, output and broadcast of Bluetooth content.

Can you tell us about your most recent projects?

We remain true to our slogan "Design meets Technology". We are currently in the development phase of some very innovative and clever radios to be released soon. Our main focus lies in the design and technical features of the product. It is tremendously important to us to design the perfect radio with the respective technical features for every room. Whether it is a kitchen radio with the possibility of a substructure assembly, a bathroom radio which is water-resistant or a portable device with extensive battery life. We want to be close to our customers and provide them with what they need. That‘s why it is particularly important to us, to analyse our group of customers and their requirements. Only in this way are we in the position to not miss a trend or a customer request.

What do your customers value most from your solutions?

Since we know our different customer groups, we are able to create a proper solution for every customer. We know exactly which radio features are particularly important to our customers and we are able to react quickly to their requests. Our teams of specialists give their thoughts every day on new developments and features, to take the music enjoyment to a new level. We score highly with built-in speaker, innovative technologies, integrated Spotify- Connect, Amazon Music and a CD-Drive at every age group of our customers. Our customers don't just appreciate the technical highlights - the stylish design is also important to them. Our radios fit into every home – regardless of how little or how much space there is – we provide a suitable solution. For example our socket radios are space-saving and fit in every apartment, no matter how small it is.

What advice would you give someone who is considering buying a DAB+ radio?

When someone thinks about buying a digital radio, we would recommend first of all getting information about the benefits of digital radio in comparison to analogue radios. Then, it is advisable to consider in which room the radio will get placed. It is also important to be clear about what features that are important to someone. A compact bathroom radio is not made for use in the kitchen or living room, where a larger display and a timer is more preferable.
